It has become customary to review a brand or shop from my most recent trip. Turns out Sweden’s capital city has a wealth of cool and trendy fashion designers from which to choose. Familiar names like Acne, Filippa K and Cheap Monday all originate from Sweden and Stockholm is the perfect place to peruse their collections. There is a strong design vibe to Stockholm, everything is arranged beautifully and exhibited stylishly, making shopping a lovely experience. Girls totter around, blonde hair swishing, kitten-heeled boots clicking and long skinny-jeaned legs marching towards the destination shops. Friends huddle round tables at cafes, smart glossy carrier bags at their feet, gulping down strong coffees and eating traditional Fika buns, as they break from the shopping.
Appealing shops caught my attention on every corner… our hotel was dangerously close to the brilliant shop Weekday and independent boutiques seem to crop up all over the place. I even fell in love with the museum gift shops. I got completely overexcited by the Moderna Museet range and managed to spend most of my pocket money on neon pens, chic mugs and quirky trinkets.
Our favourite find though was Happy Socks, a boutique dedicated to selling every style, pattern and colour of sock you could ever wish for. The selection was displayed immaculately on the wall, a panorama of colour and design. It was a serious dilemma trying to pick one pair, but after selecting a shortlist I decided on a cute pair of pink and purple diamond decorated socks. Now I just need to think of an outfit which will show them off.
Each pair costs approx. £8 which compared to British luxury socks is relatively cheap (Harvey Nichols don’t sell a pair for less than £18!) Made beautifully from the softest cotton, they are a pleasure to wear and look at!
