Hot on the Highstreet Week 227

Tomorrow is your last chance to own a piece from Rag and Bone‘s special personalised collection. Rag & Bone’s Fall 2014 fifties-inspired bowling shirts, varsity jackets and hoodies, appeared on the runway back in February personalised with each model’s name. To celebrate fashion week the designer brand made the pieces available for a customisation of your own in several different styles for ladies and gents. The range doesn’t come cheap ranging from £300-£600 for your own unique piece. My favourite is the “Challenge” varsity jacket, available in the Sloane Street store until the end of the month only.  The styles can be embroidered to a max of seven letters, so get yourself down there quick and pick your best retro nickname for your personalisation.

Hot on the Highstreet Week 196

Of all the fashion weeks, Milan is not normally known for producing the maddest collections. The smart fashion conscious Italian city is renowned for showcasing neat tailoring, sophisticated shades and beautiful leather. However this season MFW has brought imaginative, consumer focussed, Pop Art fashion to the forefront.

The wonderful red and yellow collection from American designer Jeremy Scott is a mighty clash of McDonalds and Chanel to create a Moschino collection like no other. The wacky designs lampoon popular fast food culture; also on the catwalk was a Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar inspired dress and Spongebob Squarepants outfits.

It is refreshing to see less formal, less serious fashion on the catwalk this year. Jeremy Scott is known for his comical collections but this season the larger-than-life cartoonish designs are more exciting than ever before. I am sure young trendsetters like Cara Delevigne will be first to grab a Big Mac handbag and retro restaurant t-shirt dress.

This season it is ALL about wearing your heart on your sleeve, feet and, in fact every other inch of your body with Burberry’s Prorsum’s emblematic collection.

Appropriately coloured for Autumn in seasonal dark chocolate brown with contrasting white hearts or camel brown with chocolate hearts it is certainly an iconic look and design that both boys and girls are lusting after. The collection is made with the most luxurious materials; the softest silk and amazingly indulgent calfskin. Celebrities left, right and centre are donning the popular Burberry items, most memorable perhaps is the paparazzi shot of Harry Styles’ wearing his heart shirt out and about in London.

Christopher Bailey turned Burberry Prorsum into one of the most fashion-forward luxury labels in the world, while preserving the truly British heritage. This Autumn, get ready to fall in love with heart prints, as the label presents a ladylike print with attitude.
