As winter approaches I am left dreaming of future holidays, sunshine and adventures abroad. Expedia recently asked me to share my hot destinations for 2017, so I have selected 10 eclectic cities round the world, and have highlighted what I think makes these international destinations so exciting and unique.
Tasmania, Australia
Travel in style to the Museum of New Art (MONA) on a camouflaged ferry, and explore the exhibitions and the surroundings of this unique gallery off the coast of Hobart.

With over 400 veggie and vegan friendly restaurants serving dishes such as ‘Buddha burgers’ and traditional veggie shawarmas, this city is any veggie foodie’s dream.

Take in the incredible colour and individuality of the architecture, while soaking up the sunshine, sea air and rum of this culturally packed cityscape.
San Sebastián, Spain
2016 was a big year for San Sebastian- it was Europe’s official Capital of Culture city. 2017 would be a great time to visit, as now the initial party of last year is over, but the city is still buzzing.
Kyoto, Japan (see photo above)
Kyoto is a city with enchanting scenery – enjoy the bustle of Japan’s ‘heart’, while escaping to wander through impressive bamboo groves, autumnal trees or billows of cherry blossom, depending on the season.
Valletta, Malta
Explore the rich cultural history of this tiny capital, taking in the numerous fountains and statues, and admiring the grand Saint John’s Cathedral.
Jaipur, India (see photo above)
Known as the ‘Pink City’ for it’s unique building colour, this flamboyant city surrounds its beautiful palace in a perfect mix of old and new, with the grand Amber Fort majestically watching over the brawling city.
Toronto, Canada
Lonely Planet named Toronto ‘The most multiculturally diverse city on the planet’. A truly dynamic and exciting city, with some of the world’s best restaurants and bars, no doubt due to the diversity of its residences.
Ljubljana, Slovenia
Full of expansive green spaces, a river lined with cafes, and lots of museums and churches to gaze at, it is no surprise that Slovenia’s capital is such a popular place to visit for European weekend breaks. Ljubljana has a lovely sense of community, amazing heritage and horticulture to keep you inspired and entertained.
