The jewellery is playful and pretty, made of the highest quality materials. My favourite pieces are the ‘doodle-like’ animal necklaces. This unique collection of animal pendant paperclips are 18-carat gold wire twists shaped into cheeky woodland creatures. The signature Hillier Bunny has established itself as a brand icon and here Bunny is joined by a set of quintessentially British friends; Squirrel, Bambi, Snail and Bumble Bee are all hand-crafted artisanal pieces, each set with a diamond eye available in a rainbow of colours. Continuing on with my alphabet obsession, I have to also mention the fab alphabet paperclip necklaces, the perfect personalised present for someone special.

Those who favour simpler, classic jewellery will love the dainty ‘Pretty rings’ available in 18ct Gold with colour diamonds accenting the delicate ring.

I loved the Loquet concept the moment I saw the charming new jewellery brand in a magazine. The luxury jewellery label has been created by Laura Bailey and her best friend Sheherazade Goldsmith, and launched in June 2013. Currently the range is only available on the website, but I am sure it will be available in top jewellery departments in the near future.

Loquet allows the wearer to create their own bespoke locket using charms and precious gems. Tiny memories can be encased in varying sizes and shapes of crystal gold framed ‘loquets’, available in 9 kt or 18 kt gold. Each charm represents a different emotion or memory, a lucky horseshoe, a diamond for beauty, a religious symbol, the birthstone of a loved one. Andrew Logan is the King, or Queen(!), of alternative beauty, and yet I have only just discovered this fabulously extravagant, creative character.

The Emporium of glitz and glamour appeared while I was wandering aimlessly around the London Bridge area.

Louisa Buck writes extensively about Logan’s life and work, explaining that his art is filled with popular poetry and full of exuberant excess. His work is decadent but cheerful; I was instantly attracted to the sparkling letter brooches made of shards of found materials: mirrors, gems and such like. Soon, spotting my enthusiasm, the shop assistant took me through a back doorway into the world of Logan himself. Here, Andrew worked quietly away on his very ‘loud’ new ideas. Upstairs jars of equipment await creation, while the room is filled with magnificently flamboyant glowing masterpieces. These glorious sculptures celebrate life.

Combining flair, fantasy, and fabulousness, Logan’s creations are like nothing else – a piece from this shop will certainly ensure you stand out from the crowd.
