Hot on the Highstreet Week 93

So the Thoroughly Modern Milly launch party has been and gone… and what an exciting neon affair it was. Choosing my outfit for the occasion required time and energy searching the highstreet shops with patient friends. The dress was finally found at Bicester Discount Village – a beautiful, silk strapless number from Diane Von Furstenberg, it was very reduced and deliciously suitable for a special party.

But I am writing to you today about the shoes I wore… the fluorescent beauties I found in Kurt Geiger. My DVF dress had no neon in the pattern so I had to make up for it with bright accessories: wacky Kate Spade pink earrings, my trademark pink bow in my hair and the spectacular KG pink heeled shoes. Forget red-soled Louboutins, these hot pink shoes are far, far better… unable to wear skyscraper stilettos (I can’t stand in them let alone walk) these chunky heeled platforms are more viable for my ballet shoe inclined feet!

In recent years Kurt Geiger has become less highstreet and more designer; the prices have rocketed and designs have become more grown up and sophisticated, serious and on trend. This shoe emporium was my first port of call for my launch footwear as I knew their selection is rivalled by none. Sure enough my instinct was correct and they had the perfect pair for me… the Gardenia shoes come in various colour schemes: silver with white heels, green with brown heels, and my choice: nude with neon pink heels. They are ultra wearable and comfortable, architectural and trendy. Costing £195, they are not cheap, but I got a great reduction with the GQ magazine discount card which you may still be able to find in a local newsagent. At last I have a pair of statement heels that I can actually walk in! I wanted a pair of unique shoes for the launch that I can wear again, but that are groovy enough to signify the special occasion… they suited the cause perfectly… I’m already thinking about the next party I can wear them to.

Shoes available online and in shops now.
