Brunch at The Lanesborough

Fresh from its recent renovation the Lanesborough is one of the most iconic and exquisite hotels in London. I loved the lunch I had at their Michelin-starred restaurant, Celeste, so when they started serving weekend brunch I was the first in line to try it out.

The dining room is a masterpiece of design, decorated in a pretty shade of baby blue and filled with antique furniture and ornaments. The generously spaced tables are topped with neat white tableclothes and dainty cutlery. A large glass domed ceiling lets in plenty of natural light which illuminates the tables below and adds a sense of endless space.

We arrived early for brunch, just as hotel guests were finishing their last crumbs of breakfast, and had the opportunity to admire the great room empty, noticing every gorgeous detail.

The brunch menu has something for everyone… from breakfast classics to Sunday lunch treats. We opted for the breakfast end of the spectrum, ordering Eggs Benedict and Smashed Avocado on toast with poached eggs. It seemed almost rude not to try the famous Lanesborough pancakes so we had some of those too, oh and some fresh red fruits for added nutrition!

Every dish was carefully assembled and presented so beautifully that it seemed a shame to delve in and ruin the beautiful dishes. The Eggs Benedict were rich and indulgent, perfectly orange-yolked eggs oozed and the hollandaise sauce was wonderfully creamy and well-seasoned. Pancakes were, unsurprisingly, the real star of the table though, fluffy and light thick pancakes topped with seasonal berries and maple syrup.

The Lanesborough also excel at the simple things… good pastries and freshly squeezed juices. Though there was a little room for improvement on the coffee making skills.

After a long leisurely walk in Hyde Park head for an indulgent brunch at The Lanesborough… I can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning in London.
