Hot on the Highstreet Week 111

My beauty essentials change with each season… in summer I choose products that nourish and protect while encouraging tanning: rich moisturising hair serums and sprays to avoid dry split hair and simple make-up that accentuates sun-kissed skin and adds a warm glow.

With new products on the market all the time, it is difficult to find the best, so I have selected a few fail-safe favourites to pack in your suitcase this summer.

HOOLA – This famous Benefit essential is a beauty bag must have. Easy to apply, ensuring all over even coverage, it lasts well, giving a deep honey brown rather than an offensive orange hue. The bronzer comes with a super cute mini brush that fits conveniently in the box, enabling easy application and storage. Buy here.

INSTITUT ESTHEDERM TAN ENHANCER – I love any product that safely helps me tan. Recently I discovered the Beesline collection in Beirut and now I’m delighted to have found the Institut Esthederm range of luxurious summer lotions that protect and enhance, helping you achieve a natural healthy tan. The tan enhancer doubles up as an aftersun and tan extender; it should be applied directly after sun exposure to repair and soothe the skin and everyday after your holiday to extend your tan. It will calm down redness and helps deepen your colour. The product also contains very subtle shimmer adding an extra glow. Another Esthederm product worth trying is the Bronz Repair, the best-selling sun care lotion for beautiful bodies. This cream protects the skin as it tans and cutaneous tissue is restructured, allowing the body to maintain its youthful appearance in the sun. I found that applying this product once every few hours while sitting in the sun prevented me from burning whilst intensifying my tan. Buy Institut Esthederm products here.

KERASTASE is my favourite for all year round haircare, and their range of sun specific products are particularly effective. This professional brand understands what your hair needs, protecting your precious tresses in harsh damaging sunlight and adding moisture and shine. Aqua Seal and Huile Celeste are both summer holiday essentials. The Aqua Seal hair oil smooths and calms unruly dry, weathered locks, and you only need a tiny drop so it lasts for ages! Huile Celeste contains a beautifully subtle shimmer perfect for glamorous sunbathing excursions…rub a little bit in your hands and evenly run your fingers through the lengths and ends of your hair… avoid roots to prevent unwanted greasiness. Finally the Kerastase Elixir oil is great for intensive recovery of dry wiry hair, making it feel and look softer and shinier immediately. Buy here.

My last product will help you achieve wavy natural summer hair and volume even in the heat of summer. The new SHU UEMURA ‘VOLUME MAKER’ is magic… a truly unique and innovative product. The invisible texturising powder lifts the hair from the root and instantly transforms the look. Better still the dust comes with an easy to use brush for easy application and it’s perfect for handbag storage. Beach ready hair in a flash. Buy here.

Now that you’ve got your beauty bag for summer sorted, you just need to book your flight to an exotic beach.

New Kerastase Cristalliste

I love Kerastase hair products so I was very excited to try out the new range, Cristalliste. Invited to a bloggers event at the cute boutique salon Clipso, I joined a group of excited girls as we sat in the stylish salon ready to be pampered from head to finger tips!

We drank pink fizzy, ate pretty cupcakes and gossiped over the Kerastase results. Top stylists were on hand to wash and blow dry our locks into glamorous styles, emphasising the genius effects of these new products. Whilst my hair was being beautified a lovely nail expert, filed, trimmed and polished my nails and applied a fabulous neon pink colour by Essie.

Kerastase have succeeded in creating a superior range of products that caters for all hair types and needs. I currently use the green and pink varieties to keep my hair moisturised and shiny, but am now considering moving to the Cristalliste range. Specifically designed for the treatment of long hair, this luxurious series enrich and add shine, ensuring your hair looks radiant from the roots to the tips.

There are two types of Cristalline for fine and for thick hair. Three steps maximise your hair’s natural beauty: bathe, treat and texturise. Using these products I have found the resulting tresses to be weightless and divine, leaving my hair silky, smooth and luminous without any heaviness or greasiness.

Cristalliste is a younger, hipper Kerastase collection and the prices are slightly lower than the main range. They are the perfect products for young girls who want to attain gorgeous hair with little effort.

You can buy the new Cristalliste products in good salons across the country, or online here.

When it comes to hair products Kerastase‘s are second to none. This professional brand provide the best solution to any hair problem… when my hair was brittle and damaged after bleaching, I found the only solution to return my tresses back to health was the supreme shampoo and conditioner from Kerastase that added moisture and shine back to hair and scalp almost instantly.

Most major salons use the Kerastase range which is where I first experienced the wondrous effects. They are kept behind those smart wash basins and lathered into your hair without a chance for you to study the bottle or brand first. I always thought the products smelt delicious, so I asked about what they were. I haven’t looked back since, Kerastase has revolutionised my hair routine.

Women nowadays spend so much time and money on beauty and body products, I feel we should be paying a little more attention to our hair. Damage can be avoided if you use the appropriate products for you which is why Kerastase’s different types are so brilliant.

The different coloured tubes represent the specialised ranges with a few of my favourite products highlighted:

Green is Resistance: to strengthen weakened, damaged or fine hair.

Bain de force: a creamy rich shampoo for weakened damaged hair… I used this straight after bleaching and my hair became softer after one wash. Note: best to always shampoo twice, but only a tiny amount of shampoo is needed each time.

Ciment thermique: this leave-in conditioner is perfect for brittle damaged hair. You will only need a tiny amount through lengths and ends of hair.

Masque force architecte: a luxurious hair mask for split ends, leave on five minutes after shampoo and rinse out to reveal extra silky hair.

Fibre architecte: a non-oily leave-in conditioner specially for dry hair with split ends, a renovating dual serum that works wonders.

Orange and White is Nutritive: Personalised nourishing care for dyed hair.

Sublimateur Jour: for dry sensitised hair, this leave in conditioner adds moisture. It is a light, replenishing formula that encourages softness. Best when massaged gently into lengths of hair.

Pink is Reflection: to protect and maintain longlasting colour radiance.

Bain miroir: shampoo that is ideal for colour treated hair. This shampoo added moisture and shine instantly to my hair without feeling too heavy.

Chroma reflect: radiance enhancing milk to use after shampooing, rinse out after leaving on for 3-5 minutes. Shows your hair at its best.

Chroma reflect: this deep radiance enhancing masque is for very sensitised colour treated hair. It is a luxurious treatment to use occasionally. Rinse out after leaving on for several minutes. I found the longer I left this mask on the better the results.

Silver is Specifique: for specific or serious scalp and hair concerns.

Pale blue for Biotic: to rebalance the scalp and reactivate its natural defences to produce beautiful healthy hair.

Purple for Noctogenist: overnight treatment for dull tired looking hair.

Pale purple for Age Premium: rejuvenating programme for mature hair.

Yellow for Soleil: made to measure sun protection for hair exposed to the sun, sea and chlorine… sure to be a best seller in summertime.

Gold for Elixir Ultime: enriched with four precious oils to beautify hair… a product I would love to try!

Kerastase is a professional product but is sold online and in selected salons… I promise these products will transform your hair like you never imagined possible. And though my addiction to Kerastase is an expensive habit, I don’t regret for a minute being introduced to this revolutionary hair brand.
