Kell Skott salon, Lambton Place

Hidden behind the stylish shops on Westbourne Grove is one of the loveliest salons I have visited, and if you read my blog regularly you’ll know I have been to a lot! This family run business has a lovely atmosphere; the family are genuine and kind. Kell Skott first opened in Golborne Road in 2002 and, following the small team’s success, opened a second salon on Lambton Place. They are now firmly established as one of West London’s favourite and most highly regarded hairdressers, and if you visit you will see why.

I went along for a treatment and blow dry, replenishing my over dyed tresses. I was welcomed into the bright and airy salon and seated with a drink. A lovely girl talked me through the Phyto Express Smoothing Mask treatment I would be trying that day. This brand new luxurious treatment controls frizz for up to 72 hours.

The treatment is applied to wet hair so I was taken over to have my hair washed. It is a fact that this salon has the best chairs, comfortable and soft – for once having my hair washed at the hairdresser was a relaxing and extremely sleep inducing process, rather than having a cold sink jabbing into my neck! After the mask was thoroughly applied to my hair, I was put under a fan to ensure the treatment soaked into the hair follicles as deeply and fully as possible.

Kell himself came over to wash out the sticky cream and blow dry my hair to absolute perfection adding a lovely curl. I could feel the added silkiness and shine from the treatment immediately. Chatting to Kell about the salon and the natural Phyto products he uses so frequently, I was impressed with his passionate and relaxed attitude towards hairdressing.

I left the Lambton Place salon with gorgeous hair after a lovely treatment and hair makeover. The Kell Skott Salon is an absolutely top place to spend the afternoon, I can’t wait to return soon.

New Kerastase Cristalliste

I love Kerastase hair products so I was very excited to try out the new range, Cristalliste. Invited to a bloggers event at the cute boutique salon Clipso, I joined a group of excited girls as we sat in the stylish salon ready to be pampered from head to finger tips!

We drank pink fizzy, ate pretty cupcakes and gossiped over the Kerastase results. Top stylists were on hand to wash and blow dry our locks into glamorous styles, emphasising the genius effects of these new products. Whilst my hair was being beautified a lovely nail expert, filed, trimmed and polished my nails and applied a fabulous neon pink colour by Essie.

Kerastase have succeeded in creating a superior range of products that caters for all hair types and needs. I currently use the green and pink varieties to keep my hair moisturised and shiny, but am now considering moving to the Cristalliste range. Specifically designed for the treatment of long hair, this luxurious series enrich and add shine, ensuring your hair looks radiant from the roots to the tips.

There are two types of Cristalline for fine and for thick hair. Three steps maximise your hair’s natural beauty: bathe, treat and texturise. Using these products I have found the resulting tresses to be weightless and divine, leaving my hair silky, smooth and luminous without any heaviness or greasiness.

Cristalliste is a younger, hipper Kerastase collection and the prices are slightly lower than the main range. They are the perfect products for young girls who want to attain gorgeous hair with little effort.

You can buy the new Cristalliste products in good salons across the country, or online here.

Daniel Galvin Hair Salon, Marylebone

Daniel Galvin was my salon of choice for my big transformation, leaving blonde behind and becoming brunette once again. Daniel Galvin is highly regarded as one of the top colourists in the country and he has built up an impressive empire. Every Daniel Galvin colourist is trained in house to use Daniel’s specially developed techniques, ensuring consistent excellence. My colourist, Ellie a lovely bubbly blonde, used to be Daniel’s junior, so had learnt from the very best first hand.

The salon is huge, apparently the largest in the UK, with colouring upstairs, cutting and café-bar downstairs. I was offered a drink and taken to my seat, which happened to be opposite Daniel’s working station, so I could see the master at work. Ellie indicated her expertise in colouring, talking me through my options and speaking to several colleagues to ensure we achieved the results I wanted. She worked miracles with my hair… I arrived with bleached blonde dry hair and left with divinely glossy chocolate locks with glinting honey highlights.

To prevent the colour from looking flat and boring, Ellie first put a few discreet foils through my hair. These were not always from the roots as this can look unnatural, instead they were staggered to give a summery sun-kissed look. Next came the serious dark dye… Daniel Galvin uses the mildest colouring products possible mixed with natural vegetable dye to improve the colour. The dye was applied to my hair wet so the colour didn’t come out too dark. Ellie and her junior had to massage the colour into my hair for a while to guarantee the brown colour was even and rich.

The effects of the dye and careful application were worth the wait… and the highlights came through perfectly. Once Ellie was happy with the colour, I went downstairs for a blow-dry with Molly. I had a quick trim to smarten the shape of my hair and then had a wavy messy blowdry. Molly was very efficient and speedy, achieving natural bounce with my hair in minutes.
The Daniel Galvin team encourage and advise their clients to help everyone achieve a look that is subtle and natural complimenting to eyes, skin tone and personal style.

With my new hair complete, Daniel spoke to me about my features specifically explaining how I could bring out the blue in my eyes and glow in my skin, it was very interesting and something I had never previously considered when dying my hair. Daniel Galvin was the obvious place for my colour change, and I couldn’t be more delighted with the results. I couldn’t recommend this spectacular salon highly enough, it is THE place to go for hair colouring in London.
